Hired as a post graduate engineer trainee to work as a buyer in the Hyundai car manufacturing plant for interior trim parts – pillar trims, electronic components - seat belt reminder sensors, consoles, and decals with an annual turn over of 10 million USD.

Obtained competitive quotes for trim parts and components and negotiated best prices, quantities, and terms aligned with local requirements.

Issued monitored, and expedited Purchase Orders and purchase agreements accurately and in a timely manner for trim parts.

Maintained up-to-date delivery date of purchase orders and vendor related information in ERP system to improve planning and provide visibility to all departments.

Assisted in facilitating payments and resolving invoice discrepancies between suppliers and Finance.

Undertook supplier evaluation, selection, and management ensuring suppliers can meet requirements for quality, on-time delivery, price, and payment terms.

Regulation part implementation: Led the price negotiations, sourcing, testing and implementation of passenger seat belt reminder for the Indian market, meeting timelines and regulatory standards without compromising the price, quality and delivery. Leveraged the volume and business purchasing power to get a 2% reduction in the serial price. Communicated with all departments regarding upcoming regulations and their interpretations and shared monthly regulatory updates to management with critical timelines.

Benchmarking study: Trained in VAVE by Hyundai Korea and initiated a benchmarking study along with suppliers and generated ideas for cost reduction and quality improvements. The VAVE ideas were implemented to realise an annual saving of 50,000 USD.

Supplier Synergy Cluster: Championed the monthly supplier meet of 30+ Hyundai vendors, to develop long term relationships among vendors, giving them the opportunity to learn and improve the best practices at their respective companies. This provided them a platform to generate cost and weight reduction ideas. I was responsible for implementing these ideas across different commodities.
