ISA Smelter
MSEF
PS Converters
My duties included:
Monitoring instrumentation performance for production parameters such as temperature, pressure and flow rate so as to ensure maximum safety and efficient target achievement.
Responding to alarms and process disturbances in a timely manner
Monitoring and interpret process data via the plant process historian system (PI).
Ensuring a plant (ISA) availability of 95% and capacity utilization of 85%.
Controlling and reducing operational costs and meeting the required production-rated capacity at minimum cost.
Ensuring that blister copper, of the target quality and quantities are consistently produced through quality and production control measures.
Monitoring and improving metallurgical efficiencies of the plant.
Making scheduled plan with MSEF supervisor for matte discharge by looking at the prevailing conditions of the PS Converters, MSEF and ISA Smelter.
Ensuring that all responsible personnel’s are available during equipment down times, and making sure that maximum safety is maintained at the place of work through risk assessments and safety talks before start of shift.
Maximising on reverts treatment and reduced generation.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT
1. 2012 – 2013: Did a research project at Mopani Mufulira Smelter – Smelter analytical Services/PS Converters:” Evaluating and minimizing of copper losses to Converter slag before the slag is rendered as a disposable to Matte Settling Electric Furnace
(MSEF) by looking at many different parameters”, Case of Mopani converters number 2, 3, 4 and 5.Program included; sampling, preparing the samples for analysis and sample calibration in a Venus 200(x-ray).
Main objective: The main purpose was to investigate and/or evaluate the feasibility of lessening copper losses in converter slag before the slag can be rendered as disposable or waste to MSEF for copper recovery.
2. 2010: Attached to Konkola copper mines (KCM- Nkana), smelting and refining. Was familiarized with Daily, weekly and monthly anode inspection and monitoring copper scrap smelting process until casting, tank loading of copper cathodes, production of copper starter sheets, commercial copper growth inspection, Inspection and Auditing departments of KCM 3. 2007 – 2008: worked as an Operator with Konkola Copper Mine, (KCM- Nkana Smelterco) under contract at reverb number 4.
