2021: African Health Savers Initiative (The Girls Count Project) Team Member
Description: Distribution of re-useable and re-washable sanitary pads after getting approval from Oyo State Ministry of Education to 1000 teenage girls at selected schools, also distributing perfume oils to the girls. Teaching them how to maintain the pads and be hygienic, also giving them tips on how to deal with menstrual cramps. This re-useable and re-washable pads if properly maintained can serve the girls at least one year before disposal. The major importance of this project is to support teenage girls from the cost of inevitable menstrual cycle. From our research, we noticed that most young girls especially the ones in the rural area cannot afford a sanitary pad, most of them use unhygienic materials to manage their menstrual periods. we are targeting 10000 teenage girls but we have achieved 1000.
