SUMMARY

Shaun Collins is a Professional Civil Engineering Technologist with over 15 years’ practical, management, design, and site supervision experience in the civil engineering environment.

His involvement in civil engineering projects covers all the key elements of construction supervision, design, and project management. His experience includes field and feasibility studies, investigatory studies and project identification, project fund sourcing and motivation, report writing, preliminary design, cost estimates, detailed analyses, and design, compiling project specifications, tender and contract documentation and administration, tender evaluation and adjudication, a compilation of bills of quantities, construction supervision, monitoring progress and cash flow, quality management control, site inspections, and contract administration.

He has focussed the last 10-years on major roads of which the largest was the upgrading of the N8 between Bloemfontein and Thaba Nchu for the Eastern region offices of SANRAL were progressed from an Assistant Resident Engineer to a full-fledged Resident Engineer. He completed the maintenance project on the N8 section 13 between Ladybrand and Maseru Border Bridge as the Resident Engineer. All reports (construction & financial) and as-built records as updated and compiled for each project.

The first six years of his career was spent on civil infrastructure projects consisting of typical roads, water, and sewer infrastructure. He has worked on the rehabilitation and maintenance of provincial and municipal roads in Mpumalanga & Mangaung. Experience was gained as an assistant resident engineer on the N1 between Colesburg and Handover. For the last year, he is the Resident Engineer renewable energy managing six contractors on site ranging from the construction of roads, civil, concrete works, electrical and mechanical construction.
