In 2018 we produced 5.1 million tonnes of liquid steel, an increase of 182 000 tonnes over 2017. Our steel is produced in flat and long steel products that are further processed by downstream manufacturers. Our Coke and Chemicals operation produces commercial grade coke for use by the ferro-alloy industry, and processes steelmaking by- products.

ArcelorMittal South Africa Vanderbijlpark/Vereeniging Operations units would like to announce the following training field opportunities: Training as artisans is provided in the following fields: Electricians, Fitters, Instrument Mechanics, Fitter and Turner, Millwright

Applicants need to be in possession of the following qualifications; -

• Complete technical Grade12 qualification with English, Physical or Engineering Science, applicable trade theory and an additional trade related technical subject –all passed with a minimum of 55% and Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) passed with a minimum of 50%

OR

• N3 qualification with Engineering Science, trade theory subject and an additional trade related technical subject, all passed with minimum of 55% and Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) passed with minimum of 50% Plus Grade 12 English passed with 50%

OR

• N4-N6 qualification with Engineering Science, trade theory subject and an additional trade related technical subject, all passed with minimum of 45% and Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) passed with a minimum of 45% Plus Grade 12 English passed with 50%

OR

• Complete NCV Level 4 qualification with English, Physical or Engineering Science, trade theory subject and an additional trade related technical subject, all passed with a minimum of 55%, and mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy) passed with a minimum of 50%

Previous recognized formal trade related institutional training will be an advantage. A contractual training agreement will apply. The bursary includes specified training cost, PPE, payment of institutional training, personal insurance as well as bursary allowance. Permanent employment on completion of trade test is not guaranteed.
