Facilitated activation of 825,000 square-foot hospital and nursing home, selection of equipment and supplies, planning & hiring of leadership, implementation of electronic medical record, determined staff training needs, and facility readiness, culminating in the move itself, facility operation and successful Joint Commission accreditation. Clinical programs provided were comprehensive, including mental health, dental, and rehabilitative medicine.
Established Public Affairs & Media Relations program in new service area, managed sensitive media issues, collaborated with U.S. Congressional staff, resolved patient complaints, led Boards of Inquiry investigating patient care incidents, and organized events hosting senior officials and Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Designed training and implemented Customer Service program for 1,600 new employees.
Managed crisis situations involving patients, guests, or exterior threats with local and federal law enforcement, and FBI. Identified risks, prepared contingency and recovery plans, provided hands-on training and managed resources during crisis, which included bomb threats and armed intruder. Information was highly confidential and discretion was used. Mediated internal conflicts and facilitated difficult conversations with groups.
