BAJA BUGGY

Description: Baja SAE racing is to design build and race off-road vehicles that can withstand

the harshest elements of rough terrain. The vehicles used in Baja SAE racing are often similar

in appearance to dune buggies. The vehicle must be safe, easily transported, easily maintained

and fun to drive. It should be able to negotiate rough terrain without damage.

MECHANICAL CHARACTERISATION OF METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES USING STIR CASTING

METHOD

Description: In this work, aluminum metal matrix composite (AMMC) reinforced with hard silicon

nitride (Si3N4) particles has been performed experimentally. Stir casting was adopted to synthesis the

novel AMMC for different weight fractions of Si3N4 (3, 6 and 9%). The AMMC is characterized for their

tensile strength, compressive strength micro-Vickers, density and porosity, as per American Society for

Testing and Materials standards. Observation shows that, with inclusion of Si3N4 particle, behavior

improved.
