Sr. Database Administrator

•Installation and configuration of the SQL Servers in all environments (e.g. production, pre-production, QA and development)

•Collaborate and partner with the development teams on the deployments of SQL queries, integration services packages and SQL server jobs.

•Working hand by hand with the all infrastructure teams: system administrators, storage, change management, and network team to deliver systems on budget and on a timely matter.

•Installing, administering, upgrading and maintaining 170 SQL Instances, hosting ~1,900 databases.

During my years at Nestle and as the company evolved, I was fortunate to wear a numerous hats. I started as a Sr. Database Administration then Database Manager and Project Manager.

Oversaw the global SQL environments and maintenance for over 5,500 SQL servers worldwide, with responsibility for supporting the entire life cycle of the applications including installations, upgrades, configurations, troubleshooting and decommissioning.

•Installation, configuration of SQL Servers including Clustering, Mirroring and Transaction Log Shipping

•Worked with multiple IT Teams including the Data Center, Storage, Wintel and Unix teams to formulate future plans and strategies which we use to move two data centers without any major incident or disruption.

•Conducted conference calls regularly with global groups to address and improve over 15 Security and Compliance KPI’s from a low compliant range of 50% to a 98-99%.

•Created standard routines for Security and Compliance Activities related to SQL Servers and served as the lead presenter for the SQL Server global community, raising awareness of current issues and agreeing on next steps to follow, bringing the environment to high level of maturity.

•Ensured all backup and maintenance scripts were up to date.

•Created and tracked SQL Servers KPI’s, backup status, SQL versions upgrades, maintenance routines, and user management using the SQL Server Inventory system.

•Developed and enforced SQL server database standards and controls.

•Assisted team members on performance, integrity, and security of databases.

•Performed security and disaster recovery procedures for the business.

•Served as the single point of contact on specific projects such as remediating security and compliance audit points in collaboration with coworkers in Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, Italy and Australia (to name a few).

•Provided leadership to the DBA team. Created and maintained regular meetings and help set goals. Setup the team’s priorities and alignment with departmental projects.
