I Transfer patients from the E.R. or E.R. holding to our floor and /or Oncology unit on the computer. Once that patient has been transferred up to our unit by transport in person. This is if the nurse who's assigned to the patient or charge nurse haven't done that already. Once this task is done then I get a welcome hygiene kit for the patient, after I take the patients vital signs and log it into the computer under that patients' electronic record. Then I get pillows and extra blankets for that patient and family members if any is staying or will be the night. If the patient is a diabetic I may have to check the blood sugar depending on when it was last checked. Patient may not have the heart monitor box on them, so I'll have to check with the nurse to make sure it's registered in the room where it's being monitored. Then I explain to the patient about the call how the different lights come on in the room. After the patient says ok I have it and understand then I excuse myself for the license nurse to come and take over. Resident Assistant 03/20013-06/2013

Additional Information

On my last Job assignment I was a live in 24hour care giver where I Took care of a lady client with M/S. Took care of her daily needs 24/7 and also gained & refreshed memory on meds. Her specific medications I was giving her at certain times in the mornings specific ones at mid day or lunch time and at 5 or 17:00hrs pm and at 21:00 or 9pm certain meds again at that time of night. This is and was a daily and weekly routine and process for a few months while I was taking care of this client. I really enjoyed doing this job. I also did her dressing changes on her behind where there was a whole deep enough to where you could put about (3) three fingers in there. But thanks to her meds it took the pain away to a manageable point where I could change it with no pain to her. She refused and not really wanting to eat so her sisters and I decided to take her to the ER and after a few days in there., They found a nursing home to put her in not to far from the sisters home.
