I will be completing my MFA coursework in July of 2019. My genre is creative nonfiction with an emphasis on science and nature writing. I studied closely with Katie Fallon, a nature writer and wildlife rehabilitator who lives in Morgantown, West Virginia. I have experimented with braided essays, lyrical essays, and straight-up memoir as I have gone through the program. My thesis is called Feral Lands: Encounters in the Eastern Wild about my experiences with wild creatures in the secondary forests that have recolonized my native West Virginia. 2
