Senior Operation Engineer

In October 1999 joined the ministry of electricity and water, UAE as general electrical engineer on their control center project for testing and commissioning of SCADA system for the newly built system control center at Umm Al Quwain for the northern emirates. After the commissioning of the control center I was inducted into regular grade of the ministry. In mid-2000 entire operation of the northern emirates was taken over by the newly formed Federal Electricity and Water Authority.

I was part of the team that designed and implemented the operating procedures, daily network and power station data collection and information logging formats, coordination with power station and maintenance staff for routine and emergency works, development of database and report formats. Since the System Control Center took over the operation of the electrical network and power stations I worked as senior shift engineer and my duties included

Follow up of disturbance and reporting

Execution of network switching operation for maintenance programs

In January 2002 I was promoted as Senior Operation Engineer. Responsibilities in this position were;

Load flow and short-circuit studies with ETAP Power Station Simulation Software.

I was member of the team that conducted actual test and commissioned the new SCADA system “SINAUT Spectrum" from SIEMENS. After serving three years at district control center I was transferred to National Control Center that supervises and operates 300 kV network and power stations. This control center is also equipped with state-of-the-art SCADA including EMS functions (Unit Commitment, Economic Load Dispatch, Short/Medium/Long-Term load forecasting. On-line Load Flow. As senior shift engineer I was responsible for
