Tested and certified Hierarchical Private Network to Network Interface (HPNNI) protocol and worked with Maintenance Engineering to implement it into production.

Performed testing on switch codes & Network Management System (NMS) for ATM Virtual Network Navigator (VNN), following pre-written test procedures.

Tested & certified Switched Virtual Circuits (SVC) and Multi-Class Frame-Relay Services as ATM products on HPNNI and VNN Network using pre-written Test Plan.

Worked on the VNN-PNNI convergence certification to ensure an unlimited scalable ATM network with multi vendor interoperable solution and efficient routing.

Accomplishments

Network Optimization - Required in depth analyses of ATM trunking plan to determine what, if any, ATM switches, OC48, OC12 or OC3 level circuits could be eliminated. Considerations included, but were not limited to trunk utilization, current and anticipated demand and network performance under severe network events. Ultimately resulted in 6 Offnets removed which saved company $.67million MRC.

Regional POP Migrations - Required coordination among multiple groups in addition to the analyses of how best to re-design and consolidate Trunking. Ultimately resulted in decommissioning 13 ATM switches, cost up to $5 million.
