STUDY OF FATIGUE BEHAVIOUR ABOUT FSW WELDED ALUMINIUM ALLOY 7075 T651

* Welding is a manufacturing method used to join various materials in order to form an assembly.

* A welded joint subjected to cyclic loading could fail due to fatigue.

* Fatigue results from this cyclic loading, as well as, strain, in the material.

* Throughout the welded assembly’s life, cracks, which reduces the fatigue life of a joints, could initiate, propagate, and grow causing the assembly to fail even in the cyclic stress are low and smaller than the base material and weld filler material yield stress.

* Hence, the fatigue strength of a welded joints does not correlate to the fatigue strength of base material.

* A fully reversed stress is applied to test the fatigue life of the aluminium alloy 7075-T651, a high cyclic fatigue is conducted on the material to determine the strength of the welded joint under fatigue loading.

* A sample undergo reversed loading at a specified stress amplitude, or fatigue strength, until the material fails.

* This same stress is repeated with various stress amplitude in order to determine its corresponding cycles (N) to failure with the date collected, fatigue strength can be plotted against the material, welded joint and loading.

* From these curves, the endurance limit, finite-life and infinite-life region can then be determined.

* In the results,The macroscopic structure has been done, the failure location has been revealed in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ), so the FSW weld is stronger in fatigue failure conditions. Design and Fabrication of mini oil skimmer.
