I am a final year Ph.D. student of Computer Science at University of California, Irvine. My thesis focuses on efficient data management of Internet-of-thing (IoT) systems. I have developed novel techniques and systems for performing enrichment of data efficiently using complex machine learning functions that are required before execution of queries. I am interested to work in big data management systems, scalable systems for machine learning, and stream processing systems. I have experiences in developing systems in Java, Python, and C++ and developing machine learning algorithms for analyzing data of IoT systems. Education

2014 - Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science (Masters requirement completed in December 2016), Current University of California, Irvine.

Thesis: “Scalable Data Management of IoT systems”

Advisor: Professor Sharad Mehrotra Gpa: 3.9/4

2008- Bachelor and Master of Science in Mathematics and Computing, 2013 Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP). Thesis: “Comparative study of discretizations for Population Balance Equations ” Advisor: Professor Jitendra Kumar Gpa: 8.17/10

Work Experience

Aug 2014 Ph.D. Candidate at University of California, Irvine.

- Now Advisor: Professor Sharad Mehrotra.

1) Designed and implemented a live IoT testbed of TIPPERS at UC Irvine. TIPPERS is an Internet-of-thing (IoT) testbed that provides solutions to deal with the large-scale sensor data obtained from heterogeneous sensors. TIPPERS is being used in UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and Naval Base San Diego of US Navy for analytical applications. It is developed in Java and uses MySQL and MongoDB databases in the backend.

2) Developed a new database system EnrichDB to support data enrichment efficiently us- ing database technologies. This system supports iterative query processing to reduce query latency and supports variety of algorithms to order the enrichment tasks during query execu- tion. This system is developed in Python and C++ and uses the technologies of user-defined functions, incremental materialized views and indexes of PostgreSQL to support enrichment. Jun 2013 Software Developer at Oracle India Private Limited, Hyderabad, IN.

-July 2014 Developed several web services for our enterprise application built for large scale human resource management. It required design and implementation of APIs and queries on top of a backend SQL database. Modified the schema of tables, created materialized views and indexes to improve the performances of queries. Modified our web interface of the application to support the new functionalities provided by the APIs. Summer Summer Research Intern at University of Bremen,Germany. 2012 Advisor: Professor Christof Bueskens.

Selected for the DAAD internship program to work on a project of “Non Linear Optimization”. Developed a new component of the tool to solve optimization problems specified in SIF format. This allowed us to test the tool using multiple benchmarks available in SIF format. Summer Summer Research Intern at Georgia Institute of Technology, US. 2011 Advisor: Professor George Biros.

Selected for the summer research internship of CRUISE program at Georgia Tech to work on a project of “Registration of Cardiac MRI Images”. The goal was to detect anomalies in the heart by image analysis of MRI images. I developed a new registration technique on 4D MRI dataset and obtained a performance gain of 10% in accuracy and a speed up of 2.5 times as compared to the state-of-the-art algorithms.
