Responsibilities

Witnessing/Monitoring of welding activities to ensure the quality as per project specification.

Checking all the welding activities is in compliance with the applicable code, standards and project specification.

Review welding procedure specification (WPS), Procedure qualification records (PQR) and welders qualification records.

Welding surveillance fabrication shop, Monitor preservation of low hydrogen electrodes, and baking and holding oven calibration, also monitor (PMI) Positive Material Identification.

Verify and signing of welding consumables issuance slip against the Piping Line class and applicable WPS.

Conducting routine surveillance at Shop to monitor Welding and NDE activities.

Ensure that the applicable WPS and consumable issuance slip should be available at work location.

Checking Pre-heat, Pre-heat Maintenance and Purging requirement prior to start welding in accordance with WPS.

Checking Post heating, PWHT and NDT requirement of completed weld joints.

Verify Welders JCC to meet his qualification range for the assigned job in accordance with WPS.

Execute and Control the work in accordance with the Quality Plan, ITP and specified Procedure.

Raising RFIs for client’s inspection and assist the client inspector during inspection.

Witnessing/conducting Welder Qualification Test in conjunction with third party and preparing JCC.

Witnessing and signing of Joint fit-up prior to start welding.

Monitoring weekly welder’s rejection rate to evaluate the welder performance.

Checking of Welding Machines Calibration in accordance with BS 7570 or an approved equivalent.

Inspection of Backing oven, Holding oven, Quivers, Pyrometer, Clamp meter and all inspection tools against calibration certificate.

Ensure proper wind shield prior to start welding.

Line check prior to hydro test, to verify the entire work in the test limits has been completed as per isometric and project quality control procedures/specifications /standards.
