At DRA Energy I have been quickly learning the way things operate here at the power
plant. At DRA we clean the coal for the main power plant. We add 2 types of chemicals
to the coal which one is a powder and the other is a liquid form. I operate our
conveyors/pugmill/chemical systems in a control room which i can do manually, or in
sequence and interlock mode which is basically auto mode to run along the power plants
system so everything flows together. DRA gets paid on a 24hour qualification system
depending if we are up and running. Every hour i have to check my rates using 2 different
math equations which one is for the powder chemical and the other is for the liquid
chemical to make sure im qualifying so we get paid. If something breaks i have to go and
diagnose the system which could be in our main tower or out on the conveyor towers and
we have 2 different conveyor towers we can run on depending on which one the power plant
wants to use. I do everything from hot work to confined space work. If i have do these
task i have permits i have to get signed before performing the tasks. I run equipment
if need be as well which could be a skid steer,industrial fork truck.I have
daily/monthly/pre-shift inspections i have to do everytime i come in on my shifts. We
work a 12hour rotation here which includes days,nights,weekends, and holidays We have
monthly/weekly safety meetings i have to attend and complete. Unfortunately our
operations here at DRA are coming to the end of a 10year contract.. If we dont get an
extension from the government funding and the power plant doesn’t pay to keep us
cleaning the coal we are done operations Dec 2021.

I started out just building simple 4 4 base rebar cages to running the bender which is
a process to learn everything before the bender like reading the blue prints and building
bigger and more difficult rebar cages. I have been on the bender for a while now and am
very proficient. I have to use a tape measure and change out different cylinders that
are different widths to bend bigger or smaller balls. I have to set into a computer the
degrees in which the bar has to be bent. The tape measure is to make sure i dont bend
to much bar or to less of a bend past the 2 cylinders that are on either side of the
bender and the move in a clockwise direction or counter clockwise after I set everything
up. Its labor intensive at times. Also different measurements have to be set/adjusted
before bending ghe bar. Then i would carry the bar on my shoulders to its destination and the builders would build the steel cage off of my placement around the steel jig its
being built on. So i had to know the job and obtain the info to make sure i bend each
piece of bar properly. I also rigg up objects/machinery with a overhead crane and
forklift. I bounced around the cage shop to get production complete everyday.

I Started at R&R Rebar in August of 2017 as a laborer and quickly worked my way to being
a crew leader and reading blueprints for job sites I was running.My main goal here at
R&R rebar is to have my job completed on time and accurately in order for the construction
process to continue in a timely manner.Therefore this has taught me how to be very good
at time management and finishing my task quickly but just as efficiently.This job was
also very hard manual work so I am used to adjusting to my job surroundings (Weather of
all kinds, tight spaces, elevator shafts etc.)

At NorthBay welding I was introduced to different types of welding and steel connecting.My
job here at northbay was to complete the frame of large buildings while attached to
safety equipment when it would require to be multiple stories in the air.This is when
we would weld the steel frame together and also any other structures or parts of buildings
such as attic trusses, repairs on older buildings and building large office buildings
in cities such as Baltimore, Md. Philadelphia, P.a etc.
Stacker

At Independent can I was a stacker operator/certified forklift operator.I would oversee
production of images that were being printed onto stacks of sheet metal for various
companies.The stacks of sheet metal would go threw the stacker and I would strap the
stacks of sheet metal onto a pallet with a metal strapper and I would then call for the
forklift driver to move the stack of sheet metal onto the next part of the process.If I
did not have a forklift operator for my line I would also take over that part of the
process as well.
