Description: Tesco has 4 Production Systems and 1 Development box and has implemented Netvault Backup with SL8500 Tape Library. Master box comprises 12*5500 nodes at SDC (Master DW for source data loading, analytic and ad hoc queries), Cheshunt box comprises of 28 * 5400 nodes at CDC(Cheshunt Box is used for Group countries application), Reporting box comprises of 12 nodes in which 6*5250 and 6*5350 nodes(Reporting applications use aggregate data derived from a master. New Master Box comprises of 16 nodes which separates the fixed report queries (DW Reporting) from the variable ad-hoc queries (DW Master) has proved to be the best way to guarantee on-line performance for report users). Development Box consists of 12 Nodes.
Role: Played a vital role as Project Manager - Teradata Lead DBA in Tesco:
Key Stakeholder Management
Provide visibility to support managers and concerned stakeholders
Suggest and Implement Service Improvement Plans from time to time
Present Project review report from time to time
Be main contact for issue resolutions and be an efficient Lead DBA
Create, maintain, and support Teradata architectural environment
Administration of production objects in change control environment
Development of pro-active processes for monitoring capacity and performance
Frequent MVC analysis for space saving.
Using Teradata Manager to set alerts, canary queries, etc.
Support of production processes such as P1,P2,P3 tickets
Space administration. Ensuring that the disk space is effectively utilized.
Database security administration.
Database Backup, Archival & Restore using Netvault.
Coordinating with Teradata GSC for upgrades, patch installation, etc.
Weekly meetings with the Client and the dedicated GSC personnel.
Running utilities like checktable, scandisk, etc

Highlights: Implementation of TASM and DBA Best Practices. Implemented many useful Teradata alerts, MVC, Capacity Planning Reports, Automatic Stats Collection Procedure, etc. Planned and executed successfully Migration and Up-gradation Activities. Implemented Incremental, Clustered and Partitioned Backup strategy apart from normal Database backup by using Netvault. Successfully migrated from L700 to SL8500 Tape Library. Successfully Upgraded and Migrated to Teradata Higher Versions.
