Project Leader, Dicks Sporting Goods Oct 2004 – Oct 2005
I worked as Project leader for developing Warehouse management system software for the distribution center with 3 people team. I got involved in the complete life cycle of the project. Started with project planning, analysis, design of STAR schema, establishing entity relationships between tables. Then we developed the ETL logic using stored procedures and triggers for capturing OLTP transactions and loading into data warehouse thru a staging area. Data was massaged and analysis was done to store into final data mart for Micro strategy reports. Extensive use of materialized views to refresh OLTP data to datawarehouse. The database size of OLTP was about 200 GB and Data-warehouse was about 500 GB. Developed procedures to provide nightly feeds to the data warehouse. Materialized views were used to snapshot the data between systems. There were a total of about 100 reports for the distribution center which helped in Inventory management for the goods.
Technologies used: Oracle 10g, ETL tools and scripts, Erwin, Toad, Micro strategy, PL/SQL and SQL. I was also involved in fine tuning SQL queries and load jobs to achieve peak performance.

Worked as a Senior Oracle DBA providing technical support for financial & manufacturing databases (APS, AR, AP). This includes supporting 11i eBusiness suite, Vantive CRM, Maximo and other in-house developed applications using Oracle 9i and 8i databases including 9i RAC. The databases are on HP-UX 11i & Windows 2000 platform. Also worked on a Datawarehouse project using ETL to transfer data from OLTP to Data Mart. Worked as a Sr. Oracle DBA(Team Lead) as a consultant, providing technical leadership in mentoring the team of DBAs and developers, supporting multiple databases upto 500GB that utilizes file systems and raw devices. Production databases are 24x7 run in MTS mode. The databases are Oracle 9i, 8.x (OPS & non-OPS) running in HP-UX 11.0 and Windows NT 4.0 environment. Production database is a two node cluster providing high availability solution using Oracle Parallel Server. Design and develop a process for transferring OLTP data to data-warehouse.
Responsibilities:
Support and maintain 365x 24 x 7 mission critical instances on multiple systems, on Oracle 9i and 8i. Support OLTP, Data-warehouses and Oracle Parallel Server databases ranging from 500GB to 3TB. Install, configure and upgrade Oracle 8.x to 9i in HP-UX environment, supporting more than 2000 concurrent users. Capacity planning of Oracle databases. Responsibilities:
Moved the development databases to the production. Supported production and development environments, designed backup and disaster recovery strategies. Developed E-R Models for relational databases using Erwin. Other responsibilities included identifying bottlenecks in the databases and tuning batch jobs & SQL scripts. Migrated production databases between HP-UX servers using hot backup and transportable tablespaces. Applied patches and upgraded databases to Oracle 8.1.7. Successfully recovered production databases using hot backups. Responsible for leading, mentoring and supporting database administrators.

As an Oracle DBA, supported multiple Oracle 7.3 databases (Production, Pre-production and Training). Upgraded the databases to Oracle 8.0.4 in NT/Sun environment. The H/W implementation on the production database included ALR machines (6 CPUs) with RAID 5.
Responsibilities:
Monitored the performance of databases using the OEM tools, planned, implemented and documented the backup & disaster recovery strategies. Migrated the databases from Oracle 7.3 to Oracle 8.0. Developed and implemented backup and recovery procedures for the databases. Wrote scripts to automate the process of backing up the databases. Maintained the regular backups (hot and cold backups & logical backups) & troubleshoot the production related issues.
