I would like to submit my interest in applying for the Cyber Security Analyst position. First let me say that the most important attribute in this field is the ability to think critically and pay attention to detail. I was blessed with this ability and Info Sec is my passion, along with world travel. I am currently enrolled at Western Governors University, in the BS Cybersecurity and Information Assurance degree program. I have 4 courses left and am on track to graduate in early Summer of 2021. I maintained a 4.0 GPA. at the University of Montana and graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2019 with an Associate of Applied Science with a concentration in Networking and Security. Employment would not affect my WGU graduation date as I am doing it online.
I hold 4 Comp TIA certifications, including Network+, Security +, Pen Test+ and A+. I have scheduled CySA+ for April 18, 2021. I have a great understanding of SEIMs and log aggregators. Network security monitors such as Zeek (Bro) and Snort. I have been using Wireshark for about 5 years, I am familiar with MITRE ATT&CK and have a solid understanding the Diamond Model and Cyber Kill Chain frameworks. I understand how an enterprise security solution generates alerts and how analysts then use tools to correlate events and investigate. I am very familiar with Kali Linux and the Metasploit framework and with the procedures and exploits of pentesting. I am certain I could grab the CEH certification within 6 months of hire. I have both VMWare and Virtual Box on my personal system with a lab environment set up to practice pen testing. My IT skills include access control, application security, cryptography, network security, penetration testing, reconnaissance and risk management.
Throughout my education, I have become proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. I have working knowledge of Java, Python, Windows Command Line and Bash/KornShell. I am very familiar with Cisco routers and switches and over-all network infrastructure.
I did a three-month internship with the Digital Forensics department of LMGSecurity, a small Cybersecurity firm based in Missoula Montana and my plans are to enter the Cyber security field and eventually gain the SANS FOR508 – Incident Response and Threat Management certification. I would welcome the opportunity to work in a high-level, secure environment such as you maintain and to apply my knowledge and education in a real-world setting.
