Fujitsu America Inc., Research Triangle Park, NC and Sunnyvale, CA Senior Engineer for Network Services team supporting the Blue Cross Blue Shield NC

(BCBSNC) account, specializing in Network Load Balancing of client’s e-Commerce and workforce applications in a multiple data center environment.

Responsible for all aspects of Cisco ACE and F5 Big IP LTM load balancers – including maintenance, management, design, and solution implementation in the BCBSNC network. Work closely with the client and Fujitsu America Inc. (FAI) middleware and application development teams to provide load balancing solutions for more than 50 business critical healthcare applications used by BCBSNC, its business partners, and Blue Cross clients in the state of North Carolina.

Lead network design engineer for proposed outdoor Wi-Fi mesh project for the City of Greenville SC. Design included 150+ AP’s, gateways, integration layer, and RF back haul links to a third party data center.

Lead Engineer for project to migrate 23,000 DSL and FiOS customers from Verizon to Frontier Communications. Project included collaboration with Frontier on network design and implementation planning, technical support to 70+ Implementation Specialists and Engineers, and training to IE’s on DSL and FiOS technology/tools. Hands on experience with Lucent CBX500 ATM switches, Juniper ERX1440 routers, NavisCore, and custom provisioning and maintenance tools (AAIS Broadband, NXTT, FIMT).

Sr. Network Engineer

Stock Building Supply, Raleigh, NC December 2009 to June 2010 Lead Engineer for corporate IT Network department providing day to day operations support for 85-site network and company data center. Responsible for strategic network design for next generation data center virtualization.

Represented Network department in discussions with IT management and Cisco account team regarding new data center blade server and VM design using Cisco Nexus modular switching system and 10 Gigabit Ethernet aggregation to SAN.

Evaluated and recommended modifications to existing corporate QoS design that resulted in a standardized framework for future VoIP rollout and new data applications. Implemented design on data center Cisco 7206 routers.

Developed company B2B policy for new third-party connections into the data center, focusing on security through perimeter Check Point firewall cluster, replacing the legacy Cisco VPN concentrator solution which is nearing end-of-life (EOL).

Planned and executed shutdown of DS3 service to former corporate owner

(Wolseley PLC) and replaced with encrypted VPN tunnel solution which resulted in savings to the company’s bottom line.

Verizon Business, Research Triangle Park, NC November 2005 to July 2009 Co-led Design Group of 20+ design engineers. Provided technical and procedural guidelines and training to Managed Services Engineering Department of 125 design and implementation engineers. Personally designed and implemented networks for new and existing customers.

Designed and implemented over 100 data networks for Verizon Business Managed Services clients.

Designed and implemented very challenging ($12M) network using new equipment and protocols not seen previously in managed services environment. Used sheer determination and perseverance to overcome hurdles and successfully install and test to customer's satisfaction (Utilized Juniper MX240 routers using OSPF, BPG, MPLS, and VPLS). Closer working relationship was forged with vendor that significantly improved collaboration on future projects.

Responsible for product development testing and input to Verizon Business Network Operations for new offerings to Managed Services customers. Interfaced directly with development team and operations personnel with results and suggested improvements.

Designed, implemented and documented first managed EVDO wireless backup network. Worked across divisions within organizations, each with own procedures, nomenclature and networks. Established positive relationships which resulted in standardized implementation and management documents written for future customers.
