SOFTWARE TOOL CERTIFICATIONS
Utilization of waste plastic oil with butanol as fuel for direct injection CI engine
The objective of this project was to study the prospects of utilizing waste products as fuel to run the diesel engine as an alternative to diesel. Testing was performed with this fuel blend in a compression ignition engine under various load conditions for performance, combustion and emissions. The results were compared with that of diesel and the testing depicted that the blend containing 30% of butanol and 70% of waste plastic oil possesses properties closer to that of diesel. This blend produced similar thermal efficiency, fuel consumption, in cylinder pressure, heat release rate, ignition delay, exhaust gas temperature, emissions of oxides of nitrogen and smoke when fueled in diesel engine.
