Handle all logistics with carrier representatives and make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials to job sites along with transfers between shops, galvanizers, etc. Prepare documentation such as bill of lading, work orders or regulatory compliance. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or record keeping purposes. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials. Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. Deliver or route materials to departments using forklifts, overhead cranes, yard cranes and Combilifts. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock for cleaning department, blasting department, paint department and shipping department. Respond to customer problems or complaints. Sort materials for shipping. Calculate shipping costs. Store items. Inspect shipments to ensure correct order fulfillment, reading drawings to ensure parts are correct and assembling parts per drawings.
