JOB DESCRIPTION:

The OR consists of 10 rooms with up to date anesthetic facilities, monitors and ventilators, and 5 rooms for day surgery.

The recovery area is 10 beds capacity with advanced monitors and ventilators and 5 beds day surgery .

Surgery includes:

Obstetrics & Gynecology

General surgery.

Orthopaedics & spinal surgry.

Urology.

ENT & Maxillofacial surgery.

Pediatric surgery.

Ophthalmology.

Vascular surgery.

Neurosurger

Thoracic surgery.

I perform all sort of anesthesia as rotational rota.

I cover two afternoon & night shifts per week.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS:

Insertion of peripheral and central venous lines.

Venous sampling.

Insertion of arterial lines

Arterial cannulation.

Insertion of naso or orogastric tube.

Insertion of urethral catheter.

Managing patients with difficult IV access.

Resuscitation, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) at all age.

Preoperative assessment & resuscitation of emergency surgical patient.

Assessment of both adult & paediatric patients.

Preoperative assessment, preparation and management of General surgery, Urology, ENT, Gynaecology and Orthopaedic patients.

Conducting different modalities of Regional Anaesthesia, e.g. spinal. Epidural and nerve block.

Competently dealing with patients of pre-existing medical disease.

Conducting postoperative analgesia & care.

Dealing with laparoscopic surgery.

Safe positioning of patient.

Dealing with ENT emergency.

Assessment of need for ICU and HDU admission.

PAEDIATRIC SURGERY & PAEDIATRIC ICU:

The Paediatric ICU is a very advanced unit recently established. Have10 beds with full range of up to date facilities including invasive monitors and ventilators both for neonates and children. 10 nursing staff is serving this unit.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS:

Insertion of peripheral and central venous lines.

Venous sampling.

Insertion of arterial lines

Arterial cannulation.

Insertion of naso or orogastric tube.

Insertion of urethral catheter.

Managing patients with difficult IV access.

Resuscitation, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) at all age.

Preoperative assessment, psychological preparation and management of neonates, infants and children for major and minor procedure, both elective and emergency.

Anaesthetic management of children for minor operation and major elective and emergency surgery

Management of recovery.

Selection, management and monitoring of children for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures carried out under sedation

Management of anaesthetic emergencies in children.

Management of acute airway obstruction.

Postoperative pain management, including local and regional anaesthetic techniques.

Competently managing neonates with congenital problems, including trachoesophageal fistula (TOF), congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), congenital lobar emphysema (CLE), exomphalos, gastrochisis, intestinal obstruction and pyloric stenosis.

Managing complications of regional blockade

Ability to ventilate the neoborn with bag and mask.

There is 3 unit has 40 beds and is attached to the major surgical complex. It is well equipped with ICU facilities including ventilators and invasive monitors. 2 units of them specific for Covid – 19, I work their for more than 4 months during the crises.

We served lists each day conducted to both paediatric and adult patients.

SUMMARY OF OTHER EXPERIENCES

Accident & emergency (A & E):

I had been involved in working for Alexandria universty hospital in accident & emergency unit. This is one of the larger A&E units in Egypt. My job included triaging of the patients, delivering resuscitation, emergency anaesthesia & emergency critical care services. I gained a sound knowledge & plentiful skills in trauma resuscitation & anaesthesia.

Delivery Suites:

I acquired a terrific knowledge & excellent skills in epidural anaesthesia & analgesia. I was conducting epidural labour analgesia at University Hospital for the maternity unit. This is a new concept in Egypt and initiation of this service was started in the hospital. I did my clinical MasterDegree research in epidural analgesia.

Loco-regional anaesthesia:

I am delivering anaesthesia for many surgical procedures under locoregional anaesthesia. I was well trained in that as well as I gained a detailed literatue.

Teaching experience:

My teaching skills involve lectures, seminars, tutorials and definitely teaching anaesthesia in operating theatre.

NB; DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS I ANESTHTIZED MORE THAN 20 COVID +VE PATINTS WITH ALL PRECAUSTIO AND SAFTY FOR PATIENT AND STUFF,USING ALL (PPE) .

Details

I am excellent in computer software. Using multimedia for learning is a great interest. I established an anaesthesia data base for many hospitals in Sudan. Updating anaesthesia department with both recent advances & setup has become a terrific one.
