Failure Analyst Engineer – September 2020 to Present Cal-comp Technology Philippines Inc.

Reports to the QC Supervisor and is responsible to analyze failure to determine the root cause of problem, monitor the quality of repair process and generate repair and FA instructions.

Provides detailed FA report and recommendation for the countermeasure.

Conduct troubleshooting of NG PCBA to determine the root causes of failures by visual insection and resistor/resistance checking and by using Xray.

Conduct failure investigation into defects raised to determine the root causes of failures.

Initiate & coordinate timely activities to recommend solutions, at a corresponding risk level to prevent further occurrences of such failures/non-conformities

Collaborate with other departments regarding the cause of failure to provide the accurate countermeasure.

Check and monitor NG PCBA in repair and FA station.

Generate repair guidelines, instructions and check sheets.

Guide and supervise repair operator in repairing production issues.

Coordinate with customer for the validation and approval of equipment, tools and materials required in repair and FA station.

Monitor and consolidate data of FA repaired PCBA.

3rd Failure analysis engineer responsibilities

Performs failure analysis of failed drives from the test process, audit test, and drive evaluations using machines such as Optical Surface Analyzer (OSA), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Optical Microscope and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). Provides detailed FA report and recommendation for the countermeasure.

Performs analysis of head and media for line qualifications, QST abnormalities, STW abnormalities and other related process related failure investigations. Provides summaries and report and coordinate with requesting section to obtain overall judgment.

Performs collective data analysis for specific processes and evaluations.

Handles new model drives under development drives for HDD and also PIC for physical inventory.

Spearheaded the New model and collaboration with the Yokohama team.

Presents data to the management using the QC tools.

Handles FA Technician in their day to day activities.
