Project Description:

SMT is one of the most highlighted project in IBM. This is about installing and maintaining smart meters in Texas. Here we deal with multiple clients termed as TDSPs. IBM is responsible for maintaining and managing all the Production, Development and Staging environments (hardware and databases) for all the clients who provide electricity in Texas. It required teams having diversified technical background, viz., Java, J2EE, Portal and Portlet factory, Oracle, Testing competency to name a few.

The database is working as a warehouse for all the TDSPs where we store the usage data, meter information and other information regarding the end customers for all the TDSPs. The TDSPs send us the data in form of flat files which is processed by the ETL team via sql loader to load it into the Oracle database. Each and every usage details of each meter id is stored with respect to ESIIDs. Usage data related to 15 mins usage, daily usage,

Weekly usage and monthly usage is stored into our databases which can be retrieved by the user at any point of time with graphical representation of his/her meter usage.

The database version used here is 11g release 1. It’s a 3 node RAC system using ASM as the storage manager. It also has a 2 node RAC DR (Disaster Recovery) site where data gets replicated from Production. We also maintain a 2 node RAC staging environment for testing
