EDUCATION

Wallace Community College, Dothan, 36305 - Major: Psychology

September, 2009 then September, 2010

I took a couple of semesters in college to find out if extended education was right for me. After which time, I learned that I was not interested in continuing school. It just isn’t for everybody.

Headland Elementary/Middle/High Schools, Headland, 36345 - Basic Studies

September, 1996 - May, 2008

I was raised in the little town of Headland, Alabama; it was the only place I ever knew until my early adulthood.

ABOUT ME:

My name is Jason Derek Brannon. I was born January 2, 1990. As previously mentioned, I was raised in Headland, Alabama; where I attended school until my graduating year. My family once lead a nonprofit charity-based professional wrestling outfit, Southern Wrestling Alliance (SWA), for such charities as the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and others including cancer benefits, and the like. During this time, I found a fondness for commentatorship, eventually leading me into a pursuit of Voice Acting. Leaving Headland behind, though, I went to Kentucky to stay with my brother where he practiced at a once-WWE-funded wrestling school. The funding fell through, and the students were forced to find another school or simply quit altogether. He decided to drop the curtain on that dream and return home; I along with him. We began writing songs in hopes to form a band. However, with the most miniscule ability to sing and absolutely no ear for music, that idea passed fleetingly. Fastforward, through the years of real jobs and very real bills; I looked into voice work through Reddit, landing unpaid jobs here and there, explicitly for the exposure. Only problem with unpaid work is, once you’re used up, it isn’t likely you are going to be recycled or picked up by another (hopefully rich and generous) client. I did build my own recording booth in hopes to propel my Voice Acting career. Needless to say, the fruits of my labors have spoiled with nothing to show. But I refuse to stay down!

My hobbies, as listed prior, are indeed my passions:

Art:

Since I can remember, to pick up a pen(cil) and piece of paper compels one to understand that I have an idea for something either very beautiful or something very horrifying, but always something very unique! My art style is uncannily outside-the-box, and often misunderstood or ill-received.

Still, my motto remains:

“There is no such thing as a struggling or misunderstood artist. There is only the artist; struggling and being misunderstood is just part of it.”

Despite the confidence, it is still a hard pill to swallow when one’s art goes unrecognized or unappreciated. But the world keeps-a-turnin’.

Writing:

I thrive on horror and suspense stories: the reality of the unknown and the paranormal simply thrill me. My favorite writers to date are the late Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft. Their tales are reflected within some of my own, but not directly. I write with the conscientious idea that too much exposure to outside sources (i. e. Other writers’ stories, television, movies and Internet) can contaminate and sully the flow of creativity and originality. Not to say I don’t watch TV or read/listen to others’ tales for the value of the entertainment. Writer’s Block is oh to real, and sometimes breaking my own rules can release the build-up of negative-progress. I have written my own book, X Tales for O Minds; a collection of fifteen short horror stories, with my personally illustrated title pages to introduce each tale. Copyright? Check! Publication? Well, I just have to find the right buyer.

Poetry:

As I stated earlier, one of my favorite author and poet is Edgar Allan Poe. As dark and macabre as his mind may have been, he truly understood how to capture the essence of fear and isolation. His, among many others, have become most recognizably a staple in American Poetry. His writings have taught us to read beyond the literal, and appreciate allegory. Adversely, he has taught us that acceptance of the horrors of our own minds, the ghosts of our own existence and the demons within our realities, can either drive us, control us, or destroy us. Whichever fate takes the reins begins with our decisions to permit it.

Outside of my “demented” views on art, poetry, and writing, I do maintain a healthy degree of professionalism within the workplace and a highly respectable sense of social interaction outside of the workplace. This does not mean I am a party animal. So, don’t worry: I won’t come in hungover. I just mean that I can communicate with most people without judgement or ridicule; and this makes me highly likeable.

Proofreading my resume, I realize this may be a good time to mention that I am honest, up-front, and open about my own ideals, and just about anything you may want to know about me. So if you have any questions, feel free to buzz me at 334-***-****.

Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,

Jason D. Brannon
