Aquatics boiler replacement and Aquatics HVAC system replacement. John ran the design consultants for Parks on multiple boiler, HVAC, building renovations. West Point Visitors Center, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, Project Manager Provided construction management services for the renovation and addition to the Visitors Center at West Point. The $25 million project includes the demolition of the existing Gift Shop, replacement of all MEP services, the addition of new reception area with space frame roofing system, expansive glass curtain wall system to gain views of the Hudson River, new Gift Shop, renovated archive areas, new exhibit areas including movie theater and new brick and stone exterior to match the historic buildings on campus. Connection to the existing museum with a 30,000 lb. lift to provide access for cannons and vehicles was installed. A temporary visitor’s center, security control, gift shop, West Point Tours and rest room facilities were provided for during construction.

City University of New York (CUNY), Brooklyn College Performing Arts Center, Brooklyn, NY, Project Superintendent and Project Manager

Provided on-site services for CUNY for the CM-Build Brooklyn College Performing Arts Center addition and theatre fit-out project. The addition includes performance and rehearsal spaces for the music and theater departments, and creates a new front door and image for the entire campus. The new Center includes a 64,000 SF addition to the existing Whitman Hall and features a 200 seat flexible stage performance space with variable acoustics; rehearsal rooms for orchestra, choral and theater; a state-of-the-art recording studio; the Pima Center for Computer Music; music studios and practice rooms; and a scene shop. This project was being designed and constructed to meet LEED Silver Certification. John helps to meet milestones. New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC), Kingsbridge Library, Bronx, NY, Project Manager Provided Project management and construction management services for the DDC’s Kingsbridge Branch Library project. The new Library is placed in a lot 12 feet below street grade. The front elevation is clad with a glass curtain wall, a bridge from the sidewalk directs pedestrian traffic into the building entrance; the roof garden is a sustainable feature and the lower level accommodates a garden with Asian elements. The library provides enhanced public service and alleviated the units, smoke purge systems, new 1100 kw emergency generator, exhaust systems, fire protection system, fuel oil and monitoring system and building control management system.

New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC), Lion House at the Bronx Zoo, Bronx, NY, Project Manager Provided construction management services for the reconstruction of the historic Lion House at the Bronx Zoo. This $40 million historic reconstruction project includes complex underpinning and shoring operations, excavation of thousands of cubic yards of rock and the construction of more than 25,000 SF of new exhibit space. A key challenge of the project was modernizing the building use while maintaining its historic status. John worked closely with the team to make certain the Zoo received a facility that delivered the most up-to-date animal care and handling facilities, without losing the original character of the building. New York State Office of General Services (OGS), New York State Department of Labor, State Office Building, Brooklyn, NY, Project Manager

Provided construction management services for the architectural and MEP renovation of the Department of Labor State Office Building in Brooklyn. Designed to achieve Gold LEED certification, the gut demolition and full renovation of the 72,000 sq. ft. building also maximized office space by removing perimeter fined tube radiation covers and two mechanical rooms per floor, and relocating boilers, packaged air handlers and other equipment to a new roof penthouse. John also oversaw asbestos and lead paint abatement. John was involved in all phases of the construction from pre-construction and construction services, to acceptance and close out. During the pre-construction phase, John provided constructability and document reviews, cost estimates and scheduling. He also provided technical assistance to the design team to help expedite the design package and deal with the New York City MTA related code items. New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC), Museum of the City of New York, New York, NY, Project and Program Manager

Provided project and construction management services for this three-phase, $60 million CM-Build renovation and addition project for the Museum of the City of New York. Work included slate roofing replacement, mechanical and electrical upgrades and the construction of a 20,000 SF addition. In addition, new electrical service and switchgear were installed and a new fire pump, exhaust systems and renovated bathrooms were completed prior to the addition of the new gallery and support facilities. New chillers and cooling towers, emergency generator, and environmentally controlled collections storage areas were also provided. The new mechanical equipment installed will provide the infrastructure for the renovation phases for the existing building. 1999-2006

Columbia University, Multiple Projects, New York, NY, Project Manager John provided project management services from planning through construction, start up and occupancy of various major infrastructure and building renovations and the University. Projects included the 200 Mudd Office Renovation, Y2K Emergency Generator Project, Campus-wide Fire Alarm Replacement and the Chandler Hall Renovation Project. Westchester County, Courthouse Renovation and Addition, White Plains, NY, Project Manager John provided project management services for the renovation and construction of an occupied, 20-story courthouse and 250,000 SF addition. He performed trade coordination and construction management services for the $20 million mechanical and $5 million plumbing contracts. He also provided mechanical engineering services construction, start-up and commissioning of new and existing modified systems, interfaced with facilities operations and devised plans for replacement of systems in an occupied building with little or no disruption of services to the occupants. New systems installed included three, 900 ton chillers, cooling towers, three 600 hp low emission dual fuel boilers, replacement of all building piping and pumps, duct and heating and air conditioning overcrowded conditions in the original Kingsbridge branch. A key feature is the attractive and separate community room, which is used for book discussions, children’s story hours and poetry workshops. Federal Hall National Memorial, New York, NY, Project Manager John provided project management services for the restoration of a historic national monument. The work included building under pinning, electrical infrastructure upgrades, complete mechanical piping, HVAC, plumbing upgrades, cooling tower and controls and DDC controls replacement. He also performed vibration monitoring of New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) tunnels. Interior renovations included new bathroom facilities, elevator modernization, museum display, conference and office restoration and cleaning and repair of historic stone and bronze work. General Contractor, Putnam and Westchester Counties, NY, 1992-1999 As Owner of his own general contracting company, John performed all phases of construction, including excavation, masonry, framing, plumbing, electrical HVAC and finishing. Projects included a 3,300 SF timber frame home, a 2,500 SF log home, a 2,200 SF stick built home and renovations and additions. He also performed facility assessments for a school district and a large church facility and helped to formulate the facilities management plan. IBM Corporation, Yorktown Heights, NY, 1981-1992 Project Manager Provided project design and management services for construction projects from planning to completion. Responsibilities included preliminary planning and technical support to management groups, development of requirements with customers, estimating, budgeting, tracking, design and design review, and bidding and construction management. He supervised and trained contract and permanent engineering personnel. Project assignments were predominantly fast track and high exposure projects including computer rooms, clean rooms, high technology labs, demonstration rooms, electrical system upgrades, installation of chiller systems, specialized exhaust systems, computer control and monitoring systems, fit out for support buildings.
