MasTec Network Solutions - Murfreesboro, TN
Tower Technician
MasTec is the primary turf vendor for AT&T in Tennessee and Kentucky, therefore the only carrier I have worked on is AT&T. While working for MasTec, I have worked in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, Indiana, Georgia, and Illinois.
As a Tower Technician at MasTec, I have been on a build crew as a top hand, on a tiger team as the climbing tech, also as a foreman for a tiger team.
My duties included as follows, repair and replace fiber and coax jumpers, radios and antennas as need to repair the site and clear the alarms.
As a top hand on builds, I was responsible for the installation of the technology/technologies requested in the RFDS.
I instructed the other techs on what to do next, to keep the build flowing, in order to keep the construction under time and budget.
I have done a lot of troubleshooting for VSWR and RSSI.
2005 – November 2018
Mid-Rivers Communications - Roundup, MT
Outside Plant Technician
In working independently and as part of a team, my duties include responding to customer inquiries, contacting customers to ensure satisfaction, and promoting services that Mid-Rivers offers.
Duties involve tower climbing for maintaining burnt out light bulbs, fixing cut cable, splicing and bonding to RUS specifications and working side by side with other utilities by locating our services when necessary.
Daily work involves fixing troubles, installing of equipment and maintaining service plant.
This is accomplished by reviewing trouble tickets and service orders and responding accordingly.
In the 12 years at Mid-Rivers Communications, I was involved in several fiber cuts and emergency repairs.
As the only one in my district with the training and knowledge of the Viavi OTDR, I was issued one and was required to trouble shoot cuts, bad splices and missed splices, in a 75-mile radius of my home base.
