Project Area - Crash Test Analysis and Optimization of Car Bumper Project Description:

In this paper, the most important parameters of an automotive front bumper such as material, shape and impact conditions were studied to improve the crashworthiness of the bumper for the purpose of optimization. Similar bumpers were made of different materials and simulated to determine the deflection, impact force, stress distribution and energy absorption behavior; these characteristics were compared with each other to find best choice of material.
