RULES OF RESPONSIBILITIES OF TELEPHONE OPERATOR

The Telephone Operator must represent the hospital in an appropriate manner and must provide efficient information within the hospital and with external callers. If the information is unknown, they must ask the caller for a number and call back with the correct information.

The operator must maintain the confidentiality of information concerning patients, guests, visitors, staff and other hospital business at all times.

The Operator will have to deal with patients and visitors in face - to - face situations and hence must be sympathetic, helpful and efficient and have good communication and customer care skills. An efficient, yet sympathetic, approach is needed with verbal telecommunication.
