Project Description: The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is one of the largest mutual Life insurance companies in the United States. The company offers wide range of insurance products and services, including life insurance, disability income insurance, annuities, mutual funds, investments, dental and vision. Cognizant is the development and support team of Guardian. This team handles all the maintenance and enhancement related tasks of Guardian and thereby ensuring a stabilized production environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Experienced with the full life cycle of software development: use cases, requirements, high-level design, low- level design, implementation, testing for various packages, and documentation.
Highly experienced in COBOL, IMS, JCL, DF Sort, Endeavor, CICS, Changeman, DB2 database, and SQL Queries.
Production support – provide instant resolution for Job ABEND and ensure no process fails.

We worked as part of the Retirement Plan Services (RPS) team. The RPS team handles all the maintenance and enhancement related tasks of LFG and thereby ensuring a stabilized production environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Development of various modules that support administration, processing, and reporting of RPS contracts.
Keeping birds’ eye on the production on 24*7 basis and working on production defects during on call support.
Working on problems to perform RCA on production defects and creating known errors for permanent solution of the defects
Analysing the long running production jobs that occupies major CPU consumption and optimizing the same.
