I was part of a 4 man team. Learning to use RDz and Topaz which was connected to a dallas mainframe. I wrote 4 batch cobol programs via Topaz compiled them and

ran tests. Waiting to do work for the client Cigna. I learned Topaz which is CAs interface to mainframe. The work was done via the agile Methodology. Standup meetings

were held every morning. I have used both tools as a front end screen to the mainframe. We used Topaz instead of the usual green screens and we did program

analysis as well as debugging. Endevor was also attached so we could move programs

around.

I was part of a Credit Card Batch Authorizations team. I worked on several production issues which were implemented successfully. The work consisted of Batch Cobol, Jcls and Procedures. This type of work utilized Agile as well as tasks were timed for quick turnaround and stand up meetings were held. I was working in a production operation team where we needed to fix production issues which were all mainframe, cobol, db2 and sequential file oriented.

I was part of a Medicaid (MMIS) team which processed claims. My part was to load several DB2 tables using cobol-2 programs. After the loads I did analysis of the loaded data to make sure it was correct. I used fileaid for DB2 to do the analysis. We used private libraries for all programs, jcls and procs.

Created new batch programs to compare quarterly data to previous quarters for their MMIS HCC-360 claims processing system which was written in Cobol-2 using DB2 for the data. We used used fileaid for db2 to view db2 data. We used expeditor for testing.

Each day we had stand up meeting to go over our statuses and to see if there were any issues.

All my work was on the IBM mainframe using TSO, ISPF, DB2 and VSAM. All part of a claims processing system were wriiten in Cobol-II, Vsam and DB2. We used a sort of agile methology here with

I was part of a team that worked on financial transactions that came into Edward Jones. We created CTG’s which were Cobol-II/DB2/IMSDB jobs that were kicked off by the web. We wrote them them, tested them and implemented them into production. Mainframe work….Utilities and jcl and proc’s.

I wrote my own driver progams to test my CTG’s. The methodology used was SDLC as described above. I also wrote several ims/db batch programs which navigated around the IMS databases.

Each day we had team meeting where we went over statuses.

I was part ot a team that resides in South Bend and I was a remote worker in St. Louis. I was assigned to convert Easytrieves jobs into Cobol-II jobs.

I did some of the work at the pc level using spf/pc. I did the downloading and uploading of work myself. I used Expeditor for testing.

We used NDM to do the uploading and downloading. I communicated via link and telephone with questions or if anyone need help.

Edward Jones, Maryland Heights, Missouri (June 2014 – Nov 2014)

I was part ot Ed Jones statement team and made a few changes to them. They do At-A-Glance and Preferred Interest statements. I was also put on a team the created a new system that runs after their statements go out.

It is a statement reconciliation system based on the Sec Rule 17A-5. This system verifies the position, and who is supposed to get a statement versus what the Edward Jones financial books say. In order to accomplish this we used the IBM Mainframe and Cobol-2, Qsam, Vsam, and CICS. For debugging purposes we used Ca-Interest for batch and CICS and CICS Screens. For my part I wrote three programs which extracted data from master files. For documentation I did flowcharts utilizing MS-Project.

The methodology utilized here was SDLC. I used NDM to move files from excel spreadsheets to the mainframe. SDLC

TCC Software Solutions (Nov 2013 – May 2014)

I was part of a team that worked on a maintenance contract for the Maryland government. I sat in Indianapolis and worked with a team in Maryland. There were weekly status calls on our progress. It was all mainframe development work. The work consisted of Batch Cobol-II, DB2, Vsam, sequential files, JCL and Procs. We used Expeditor in our unit tests.

We communicated with the client by telephone to get changes or report issues.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, Columbia, SC (Oct 2012 – Aug 2013)

Sr. Application Developer / Systems Analyst MMIS

While waiting for my C2 clearance to come through I was put onto a new contract that Blue Cross had called T3 West. They already have T3 North and South. The T3 West was already in progress when I got there and I had to work alone in this. The idea was to clone the West off of the South. I interviewed other teams, examined programs and worked with the data. Single handedly I got 29 Procs, JCLs, 30 Reports and setup 13 or 14 DB2 tables for the West. I added a few lines of codes but this was a cloning situation. The West is now in production and went in with only a few minor problems which I resolved. The software development followed the SDLC methodology. Claims processing system for Medicaid participants.

Comptroller of Maryland, Annapolis, MD (Jun 2012 – Oct 2012)

Data Processing Programming / Lead Analyst Advanced at Comptroller of Maryland

Involved in their SMART (Taxation System) system and all of the notices that are generated based on different tax statuses. The system also comprised of several IMS/DB databases.

Using Script/VS created a new Sales and Use Tax form for Maryland.

Labeling all their front end CICS/Screens/DB2 screens with an IRS warning of federal data.

Assembled my own PSB and created PCB’s based on the view the program needed.

WACHOVIA, WELLS FARGO, PENNSYLVANIA, PA (Aug 2010 – Aug 2011)

Mainframe Developer

Working as part of a team on the J system conversion for Wells Fargo from Wachovia.

The work involved taking Batch COBOL-II IMS/dc programs over to COBOL command level programs. On a team of about 8 consultants and 3 employees. All development followed the SDLC development.

Assigned to the front end inquiry system. These programs were written in Cobol CICS/DB2 and are now in production. The technology used here was messages sent in to the west mainframe and then on to the east via MQ-Series to DB2 and IMS/db.

In addition, wrote several cobol/db2/ims batch programs. A third assignment was to write a conversion program for their name and address system. The names and addresses are held within their HOGAN banking system. We used FileAid for IMS and DB2 to look at and setup data for each platform. Also used synchsort for sorting data.

Wrote a CICS/COBOL program with a subroutine to create the XML strings to go into Hogan and convert the output of HOGAN CIS and format the names and addresses for domestic and international clients.

MERRILL LYNCH, HOPEWELL, NJ (Jan 2010 – July 2010)

Mainframe Developer

Worked as part of a team on the Product Offering Control System. The online system was made of CICS, IMS and DB2 programs. We followed the SDLC for all development work. NDM was used to transfer data from spreadsheets to the mainframe.

SynSort was used as the batch sorting utility.

Made changes to these programs and tested them via CA-Intertest and Expediter. CA-Intertest and Expediter are both source-level CICS debugging tools.

Involved on the batch side of the system which was made up of Batch Cobol-2, IMS/DB and DB2 modules. All modules were kept in the management package Endeavor.

HEALTH AND HOSPITAL CORP, NEW YORK, NY (Mar 2008 – Jan 2010)

Mainframe Developer

Worked as part of a team on the NYC Health and Hospital Corps Payroll and Timekeeping systems.

As a productive analyst/programmer, written many adhoc reports that were requested by management and the users.

Wrote these adhoc reports using Easytrieve or SQL queries and using forms converted those queries to reports. One of my more important assignments was via the payroll system and the funding for HHC. Due to the economy and how HHC gets funded, assigned to create a report of all those who worked in the facilities (hospitals) and what their salaries was. Due to this successful reporting HHC was able to get its share of the funding. Currently HHC is converting to PeopleSoft for HR and responsible for the conversion of inbound files from health carriers and the outbound files going back to the health carriers.

We followed the SDLC for all development work.

All of the work was on the mainframe except where I converted data into Excel reports. The software used was DB2 (v8), COBOL-II, Easytrieve, QSAM datasets, JCL’s, Procedures, MS-Office, and Novell GroupWise (similar to Outlook).

MEDCO, FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ (Jan 2007 – Dec 2008)

Worked as part of a team on the Pharmaceutical Client’s Medicare Part-D System. This was a retail eligibility and enrollment system for pharmaceuticals.

The system was made up of DB2 tables, Cobol-2 programs and using Easytrieve to do research and problem-solving. Used IEBDG to allocate and/or de-allocated GDG’s.

This also included the Medicare Part-A (Hospital) eligibility.

Worked as part of a team on the Client’s Tax System. The system sends tax information into a Texas based client Fast Tax which processes the data for statements and reporting.

Changed programs on their UNISYS system. Essentially teaching myself the Unisys systems and their Cobol-2 features.

Mainframe Developer (Oct 2005 – Feb 2006)

Worked as part of a team on the Client Correspondences team which was the backend team and was responsible for Client statements and various other reports. Worked with programs on the periphery of their homegrown AFP statements. We followed the SDLC for all development work.

My responsibilities included design, coding testing of various Cobol programs. Part of my responsibilities included contacting users to Ascertain any and all information that we needed to complete our jobs. Utilized the Mainframe platform and utilized all of the following software…Cobol-2, IMS, Endeavor, Panvalet, Process, Jcl’s, MS-Office, Outlook, ISPF, VSAM, Sequential files and FileAid (used to look and update data).

MERRILL LYNCH, JERSEY CITY, NJ

Project Leader / Mainframe Developer (Jan 2004 – Oct 2005)

Working as a Project Leader for one of their financial clients Merrill Lynch.

As a team of 3, led the analysis and design of an upgrade to their local bills system which is combined into a trading platform rewrite. The major focus surrounds their multi-trade confirmation systems. The local bills systems is an operational systems to take trades and plug them into a daily activity databases for this MTC system. Our part in this system is to build the rules by which the confirmations will be generated.

Utilized Excel and an upload process we are able to generate the rules at the PC level and take them up to the mainframe and put them into a DB2 Rules table.

Utilized the usual mainframe skills…Cobol2, CICS 6.1, DB2, VSAM, Sequential datasets and Expediter, and the pc-based software such as MS-Office, Visio, Changeman, MS-Project and Outlook. Also handled the Brownstone work to put the DB2 tables together.

MELLON HR SOLUTIONS UNIONDALE, NY

QA TESTER (Dec 2002 – Nov 2003)

Worked as an independent contractor, assisted Mellon with their Omniplan to Omniplus and new client conversions into Omniplus of their Defined Contribution plans.

As a QA Tester for their Web based team, tested several transaction types such as contribution rates, Fund-to-Fund transfers and Investment Election changes.

Verified all the functionality of their website, including testing and reporting problems in their MS-ACCESS database for Mellon management. Most of the problems referred to data setup Issues.

Developed my own test scripts and scripts for the junior testers on the team.

As a QA Tester for their mainframe contribution payroll testing, tested each client’s incoming payroll file. Each file contained separate transactions pertaining to their participant’s 401k situation.

Scripted each client’s payroll file using MS-Excel.

METROGRAPHICS PRINTING FAIRFIELD, NJ

Responsible for E-commerce images on a client server machine.

This job involved taking images and cropping them under Photoshop for Xebra software. This package consisted of several modules such as warehouse tracking for client products, billing, accounting and E-commerce. By putting these images on their website it created more business for Metrographics to the tune of at least 25% more profits.

MERRILL LYNCH SOMERSET, NJ

Project Manager (Jan 1990 – APR 2001)

Responsible for all production support and development correspondence, including letters, confirmation and statements (2 million per quarter) from multiple platforms including Employee Stock Options and Employee Stock Purchase Plans. The team consisted of 7 programmers.

Primary responsibilities included analysis, resource allocation, business support, user and client interaction, user acceptance testing and implementation.

All work done on the mainframe platform using the CMM pieces for team software processes. The technical environment was Batch Cobol-II, CICS/Screens, VSAM, DB2, JCL, Procs and Ispf. All the data was off of the Dyatron master files. Handled the conversions of new Stock Option clients into Merrill, including transferring client files into our files by transmitting their statements.

Expanded programmers’ skill sets by successfully introducing a CSF class.

Worked on converting several SOP master files into DB2 databases, including designing data copybooks and interfacing with DBA’s.

Made personnel hiring and termination decisions.

Improved generation time of the Pepsi statement from more than 1 week to within 2 days.

For LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES my team created a first-time multi-security statement for which we received a team player award.

Fixed the dates in many programs so that Y2k would not create issues.

Created system modifications for Merrill’s ESOP and ESPP statements and selected vendor package for software application (Ez-Letter). In each case they reduced the generation time from about 7 days to 12 hours.

Successfully designed, programmed and implemented a brand new Annual statement for COCA-COLA that met all client specifications.

Managed the translation of business requirements into technical specifications for my group.

Responsible for managing the Employee Stock Option System and 401K statements for external users. The staff consisted of 7 programmers.

Modified the SOP system that automated and improved the transmission methods for several SOP clients.

Created an automated SOP correspondence and confirmation process so no manual was needed thereby saving substantial time.
