Dear Hiring Team,
I would be an asset to The University of Texas at Austin in the Financial Analyst role. I bring an analytical mind set and attention to detail to every role I am in. As an economics major, I have focused on bringing new and creative ideas to age old problems. Being dyslexic as a kid I had to compensate where my brain failed. This meant using numbers a crutch, numbers have always made since to me, they are simple and straight forward. When I swam in college I was always tasked with the budget for clothing and food despite this being the coach’s responsibility. I would also confirm receipts for recruiting visits and confirm everything was accurate and within limits. As a Financial Advisor I am in charge of building a book of business, while maintaining current customer relations, and creating comprehensive financial plans, for people in all stages in life. At any given time, I am working on five to seven open cases and reach out to over 200 people a day. I am required to be knowledgeable about hundreds of complicated products from over thirty companies. In my internship with the Metropolitan Police Department, I was required to be organized and send out Crime Reports that went to the entire 6000-member department. I believe this combination of roles has prepared me to work at an institution where I need to have integrity and attention to detail. While still in college I got many opportunities to work with different analytical software. I have experience in STATA, Python, JAVA, and SQL. I am Microsoft office Specialist Certified in both Excel and Access. As a masters student I am gaining more experience in these tools and skills every day. In my current position I use Salesforce extensively, with many other online tools. I have a strong work ethic that comes from being a Division 1 swimmer at American University, and this has shown in all of my previous work experience. At my internship at JD Callander and Associates, I revitalized the mail marketing system to save 14% (>$140) on postage and hours of manpower each week. I am excited to be considered for the Financial Analyst role at The University of Texas Austin. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about the role, the company, and how I can be an asset to your mission. Regards,
