Stage jointly supervised

Study of the genetic structure of two species of cereal aphids (S. avenae and R.padi) and their viruses inoculated according to the host plant and geographical location in Tunisia

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:

As part of the preparation of the Master (exposed in June 13, 2006) entitled: Morphological Identification & molecular and toxicological studies of some species of cereal aphids in Tunisia. Firstly, it was to identify on the basis of morphological criteria the main species infesting cereal crops in Tunisia. Secondly, Conducting toxicological tests performed on species with the highest density were being able to select resistant strains. Finally, it was to study the genetic variability of three aphid species by PCR-RAPD. The different results are interpreted by the appropriate statistical analysis by the PHYLIP software.

As part of preparing a Traineeship in Biological Sciences at UMR-BiO3P, (Research Unit. Biology of Organisms and Populations applied to Plant Protection, INRA, France) entitled:

Study of genetic structuring of two species of cereal aphids (S. avenae and R. padi) and their viruses inoculated depending on the host plant and geographical location in Tunisia. it was to:

- Determine the selective factor responsible for the genetic structure of populations of species Rhopalosiphum padi and Sitobion avenae using microsatellite markers (article submitted).

- Assess the diversity of plant populations infested by BYD viruses sampled on different cereals by serological tests (TAS ELISA), RT-PCR and sequencing. So to test the hypothesis that natural BYDV viral populations diverged with the type of host plant species cultivated.

MASTERED TECHNIQUES :

Extraction of nucleic acids.

Amplification by PCR-RAPD.

Techniques for electrophoresis.

Toxicological tests.

The microsatellites.

PCR-RFLP.

Elisa tests.

Computer literacy and bioinformatics:

- Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Explorer, Access ...

- Statistical softwares: Phylip, TreeView, Genepop, Genetix, Population, Structure, Baps, fstat, Gimlet, Airlequin ...

Language Proficiency: Arabic, French, English (read, spoken and written).

- Article accepted:
