Application for employment

My name is Eugene Thomas Britton. I am a 48 year old male. I am in good health with sober habits and

computer literate.

I am a qualified carpenter with 25 years experience. I have been employed as Foreman, Assistant Foreman and Carpenter. I am skilled in setting out, formwork, roofing, finishing (hanging doors etc.), scaffolding, joinery, built-in-cupboards, etc.

Most of my working experience was spent in the building industry where I also gained extensive experience in plumbing, tiling, bricklaying, electrical work and electronics, etc.

Leaving school I went to Technicon and completed NTC 2. There after I did my apprenticeship and worked as carpenter. From 2001 to 2006 I was employed as a Technicians assistant at an electronics company specializing in access control and alarm installations etc. (80% electronics: 20% carpentry).

For 2 years (2007-2009) I was employed as a Building Supervisor of a 12 storey residential complex. Some of my duties included overseeing all maintenance, including security, cleaning, landscaping etc. I also acted as liaison between the Managing Agent and tenants and residents. I held regular meetings with staff and management

working in the building and also submitted monthly reports electronically.

I have been employed for 5 years by sub-contractors as foreman or foreman’s assistant where I have gained extensive experience.

I was employed at UCT- Dept. of Archeology as Departmental Assistant for 2 years, where I assisted with lectures, documenting and cleaning, storage of archeological finds and archives and maintenance. Assistance was also rendered to students with projects and lectures.

In my youth I was a member of the S.A. Boy Scouts and later became Assistant Scout Master. We then started a Rover Scout Crew (a community based organization) at a later stage. The crew adopted Macassar Boys Town to be their mentors.

As a personal project I became a member of the SAPS reservist where I served for 7 years.

I am family orientated and love spending time outdoors. Hiking, fishing and braaing, etc. with family and friends. If possible I do small handyman jobs, such as build in cupboards, furniture repairs, tiling, electrical, plumbing, repairing stoves, washing machines, fridges, etc.

I am self-motivated, people’s person and work well independently and within a team. I am courteous, polite, caring and patient. I see challenges as a learning curve.
