Title: Studies on Chemical Release during Dredging-induced Resuspension of Bed Sediments Project Description:
Contaminated bed sediments are a potential source of water pollution. Of the various mechanisms of chemical release from bed sediments, desorption from re-suspended sediment solids is a significant source. To assess the risk of chemical release during dredging, it is important to estimate the rate of chemical release to water. Experiments were conducted to segregate size fractions from sediment slurries to obtain distributions of mass, organic carbon and chemical concentrations in a settling column. Reasonably good solids balance was obtained and compared adequately to the particle size distribution data obtained independently. Instrument Used: HPLC, TDS Meter, TOC Analyzer (Solid & Liquid), Conductivity Analyzer and pH Meter etc.
