Computer and telecommunications operations, developing annual IT budgets, establishing policies, procedures and standards. Negotiating contracts with vendors and coordinating IT related training. Hardware installation, software support, troubleshooting and upgrades for up to 35 on-site and remote access users are also a primary responsibility of this position.
Selected Accomplishments:
Managed the conversion and upgrade of 1 NetWare 3.12 server initially to Windows NT 4.0, then to subsequent server versions resulting in an overall 20 percent increase in server uptime, increased user productivity, lower support costs
Increased overall network performance and reliability by upgrading existing 10mbs hubs to a 10/100mbs, then to a 1ghz switched environment
Implemented conversion from Novell GroupWise to an in-house Exchange Server 5.5 with Internet gateway

Empowered users to do on-line claim entry and verification of insurance eligibility through dial-up connections with primary insurance companies. This reduced claim payment turnaround time, originally thirty to ninety days, down to a consistent two weeks. The result was an increase in cash flow and user productivity. This system also allowed on-line correction and resubmission of problem claims
Developed company World Wide Web home page advertising our services, as well as a private intranet network for the dissemination of company information to employees
Performed upgrade of our 10base-T Ethernet LAN to 10/100base-Tx using fast Ethernet switches and 100base-Tx hubs. This leveraged our investment in existing equipment and provided increased bandwidth for power users, while reducing network bottlenecks.
