ACADEMIC PROJECT:

Title : Performance enhancement of partial shaded solar photo-voltaic (SPV) array using Magic-square puzzle (MSP) configuration

Aim : Performance enhancement of Partial Shaded SPV array Description : There are many ways of utilizing the solar energy. In that, SPV is the most reliable one having low running cost and it is free from the environmental issues. A SPV cell is a semiconductor device which directly converts the sunlight into electrical energy. The conversion efficiency of SPV system is very low and it is challenging to enhance the performance under partial shading conditions like moving clouds, building shadows, trees, telecom etc. In partial shading conditions, SPV modules of the array receive the different solar irradiation. The arrays exhibit multiple peaks in P-V and I-V characteristics and hence mismatch in loss occurs between the SPV modules. The present work is to investigate the performance improvement of an existing SPV array when it is re-configured. The conventional and MSP based rearrange configuration arrays are modelled and simulated on MATLAB/SIMULINK platform. It is observed that, MSP based rearranged configurations have better performance under partial shading conditions. Members involved: 3
