I formed part of the hospitality team that opened a new restaurant and bar in a trendy district. My responsibilities included overseeing the layout and construction of the bar as well as designing the cocktail menu. I worked closely with both owners who personally trained me in a bar and general restaurant operations, as well as basic restaurant economics.

I was promoted to a bar manager after one-year practical experience working as a cocktail barman under the supervision of the business owners. My new role brought about bigger responsibilities such as opening and closing of the store on a daily basis (restaurant and bar) as well as off-site managerial duties at various Pop-up events that our company was involved with such as the Vodacom Durban July. I was also tasked with the training of all new staff behind the bar.
