Copywriter

As someone who is creatively inclined with academic and professional experience, I believe my background would make me a strong candidate for this role.

I have recently graduated form the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, with a Masters of Arts (with Honours) in English Literature and Classics. These two degrees proved to be complimentary, teaching me how to think critically but also creatively. In both domains there was a strong focus on rhetorical writing. Learning these rhetorical strategies has allowed me to become a more effective writer as seen through my freelance initiatives.

As I graduated in the height of the global pandemic, freelancing proved to be a very lucrative way to gain professional experience. Through freelancing sites such as Upwork, Fiverr, and Amazon Kindle, I was able to work as a ghostwriter, copy editor and copywriter on various projects. This entailed in-depth editing of manuscripts which required heavy revising; checking for language and plot consistency as well as errors in grammar, syntax, and punctuation. As a copywriter I implemented SEO best practices when marketing new books with specific care to titles, author bios, and story tags to ensure optimal visibility and improve sales upon release. I combined these marketing techniques with Mailchimp and Canva to further advertise work on digital and social media channels. While I do have a developed understanding of copywriting principles, I am always striving to learn and improve my craft through opportunities such as this.
