Was involved in a number of accounting and finance projects:

EFS Driver Fuel card: As part of a new initiative all drivers were provided with new fuel cards partnered with a third party called EFS. I was part of the team that developed and maintained the project. Implemented maintenance screens, weekly audit reports to verify the authenticity of cards between Werner and EFS. Verify the monthly card charges that were transmitted to Werner via csv and xml files and process them.

Driver Annual Achievement Bonus: As part of a driver retention policy, a new type of bonus was introduced. This would be paid annually based on the driver’s seniority date. To qualify the driver had have completed certain requirements. These requirements were broken down to individual modules. Due to certain business decisions, a kind of switch was provided to turn these modules on/off dynamically.

Driver Direct Deposit Transfers: Werner classifies drivers and employees into various divisions. This project was developed to provide them a feature to transfer their direct deposit between the various divisions when they transfer between divisions. There are certain criteria’s that has to be met for the transfer to be successful. These criteria were created as modules to make them more dynamic.

Excess miles deduction: Owner operated trucks have a certain number of miles allotted to them per quarter. When they quit in the middle of any quarter, the number of miles driven is calculated and checked if they have exceeded the allocated miles. A fixed amount per excess mile is set and deducted from the driver’s next payroll.

Manage data interfaces from various GDS front office (like Sabre, Amadeus, Apollo, etc.) via MQ into GMAX.

Manage data interfaces of card feeds (AMEX, VISA, MasterCard) to various partners for different markets

All file flows in and out of GMAX is via Managed File Transfer (MFT). Was part of migration from SFT to MFT. Have created and maintained file flows in MFT.

Recently the accounting part of GMAX was migrated from legacy system to cloud based system called NetSuite. Was part of the team that helped with this migration activity.

Provide 24/7 support during all migration activities.

Perform month end reconciliation to match the financials in GMAX and NetSuite.

Developed utility to check the flow of transactions from GMAX to NetSuite, report any errors to business for corrections.

Virtual inventory: This project mainly deals with the inventory information.

As part of the project C&B decided that all the direct writes/updates to the inventory files were to be replaced by API calls.

The team was involved in identifying the programs which do either write/Update the Inventory files, and making the modifications to these programs by introducing the API.

Gift Registry System: Gift Registry is a very popular concept used in the retail industry. It involved options to create/maintain a registry.

The project was to completely rewrite the gift registry application to incorporate data coming from Green screen, web and the kiosk.

Foreign Trade Zone: The concept of FTZ was introduced to track the duty paid for import goods.

Labor Management

Labor Management is used within Spectrum for Arcadia to measure and report Operative Performance and Efficiency. The current Labor Management system used is PC-based and is written in a language (Visual Basic) that is no longer part of the Information Systems strategic tool set. The system is heavily dependent on manual data entry and is labor intensive and prone to inaccuracy. The entry of data relating to picking activity accounts for over 50% of Labor Management clerical time and represents the biggest win in terms of automating data capture.
