Part of a large programming group dedicated to upgrading custom health insurance software. The largest program touched was around 80,000 lines. Program upgrade involved making programs more modular. Modernization included using RPG free, reusable code,and service programs. Rebuilt the 1300 files, views or indexes using SQL generated files. Some of the work was done in an Agile environment. This site has a test environment as well as several production sites. On site 5 days / week, remote 5 days/week. This medical establishment has 80,000 employees, including 1000 MD’s.

The general goal for Frontier is to improve program efficiency because of a huge increase in the customer base. Modify programs to reduce flat file usage and use a relative database model. Part of a large programming group. New coding involved SQL for file input/output and extensive usage of service programs. Largest program touched was 15,000 lines. On site 1 week/month, remote from my basement the rest of the time.

Assisted in updating and migrating 1500 programs (modified software) to interface with an upgraded version (3.1) Friedman software. This was a successful production cutover in November 2014. Some smaller projects were also revised and implemented during this period. Modified RPG programs were upgraded to RPGLE. Programming was done with RPGLE and SQL.
