PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Risk Assessment
Project Geologist
Environmental Assessment (EA) International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC)
El Paso, Texas
Served as the project geologist for a comprehensive environmental assessment of the American Canal reconstruction project near ASARCO smelter in El Paso, Texas. EA included a review of historical aerial photographs, site visits, and completion of cultural, biological, traffic, noise, air, soil, and groundwater studies. Authored the soil and groundwater sections of EA. A FONSI was prepared for the American Canal.
Project Scientist
Fate and Transport Modeling Confidential Client Canutillo, Texas
Provided technical guidance in fate and transport modeling for a leaking petroleum storage tank in Canutillo, Texas to evaluate effects of hydrocarbon exposure to human health and groundwater. Developed the fate and transport models for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, and MTBE. A technical report was subsequently prepared for toxicological evaluation and litigation support.
Remediation
Task Manager
MTBE Groundwater Remediation
Kinder Morgan Liquids Terminals Galena Park, Texas
Completed installation of 25 oxygenation wells for passive remediation project. Reviewed the soil and groundwater analytical results for MTBE. As a part of technical report preparation, prepared the tables and potentiometric surface maps. The laboratory analytical results obtained from the assessment were utilized to a design a passive iSOC remediation system at the AST containment area. Also managed the weekly O&M system activities for alkylate recovery system and iSOC passive remediation systems.
Senior Geologist
Missouri River Mitigation U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Kansas
Served as the senior geologist for completion of 60 soil borings and 20 temporary monitoring wells. USACE proposed to restore fisheries and wildlife habitat at series of sites along the Missouri River in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa as part of overall Mitigation project. As a part of report preparation, developed soil boring logs, geologic cross sections, and prepared tables for the Assessment Report. Based on the completed soil response actions, the flow through chute was constructed by excavating or dredging material to form the chute.
Regulatory Project Management
Project Manager
Multiple Projects Texas Department of Transportation South Texas
Activities included management of several assessment and remediation facilities with groundwater impact (VOCs, SVOCs, and RCRA metals); consultation with TxDOT and TCEQ on expediting site closures for affected properties; developing schedules, work scopes, and budget estimates; and training and mentoring of junior staff members.
Project Manager
Site Assessment and Remedial Activities TCEQ State Lead Contract South Texas
Completed site assessment and remedial activities at several retail service stations for TCEQ State Lead Contract. Activities included supervising project team, preparing work plans and schedules, providing technical report review, corresponded with TCEQ on closure activities.
