As Sr. Program Analyst, my main responsibility is enhancing, maintain and upgrade all the PowerBuilder applications for city’s Public Utility Department, Engineering Department and Risk Management Department.

One of biggest PowerBuilder application is SWIM ( Sewer / Water Information Management ). It is a work order driven, facility management, crew member management and fleet management application for Public Utility Department. It has more than 400 tables to manage more than 200 facilities that owned by Public Utility Department. The application generates preventive maintenance work order for each facility based on their criteria for maintenance crew and also generates problem work order from City custom service Call Center, Public Utility Department, Street Department Call Center for emergency crew and investigation crew.

•Developed and inserted some applications into the TouchStone System which allowing the power company to select the customer from their DB2 database to match many rules and conditions for various energy saving programs that Power Company offers. Using PowerBuilder 5 as front-end GUI tool, Watcom as developing database, and DB2 and Oracle as working database developed these applications. The system utilizes a lot of advanced software techniques such as Object-Oriented application design, which creates a base library holding all ancestor objects and inheritance to create descendant objects.

•Developed and inserted the application to convert DB2 data to for updating TouchStone system’s equipment database monthly.

•Developed and inserted some applications into the Orion Switch Tracking System for AirForce and NASA to use the Orion closed circuit communication system. Using PowerBuilder3 developed the system and now we upgraded it to using PowerBuilder5 and using MSSQLServer 6.5 as database. This is a very complicate system, which they do not allow any possible mistake.

Developing this project using PowerBuilder as a front end GUI tool, MS SQL Server/Sybase as back end server, Window NT as network. The system utilizes a lot of advanced software techniques such as Object-Oriented application design which means to create a base library holding all these ancestor objects and inheritance from these objects to create descendant objects, dynamic SQL, API call, Tab folder, etc. It also uses SQL database advanced technologies such as using Select statement to create temporary table, using stored procedure to improve performance, and using trigger to get data integrity.

•Data Conversion Tool (DCT) - The profitability information originates from IBM

•Mainframe platform. The DCT reads the mainframe's exporting files, reformatting the structure, and download to the BRS Database Server and then the BRS can use it to create all kinds of reports.
