LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Serena Sanitary Pads - Bogota, Colombia May 2020 - Present
Co-founder
Lead a team designing a reusable sanitary pad for low-income Andean women produced from recycled materials, which is 15 times cheaper than the industry standard.
Prototyped a machine to optimize the production of the pads, reducing the manufacturing time from 1 hour to less than 1 minute.
Execute a human-centered approach to iterate the product, having interviewed and tested the pad in over 20 women to date.
Won the 2020 Columbia Engineering Design Challenge “Engineering for Humanity Award” in the ‘Health’ category.
Rocketry Program - Columbia University - New York, NY September 2019 - Present
Member, Airframe Team
Work under tight deadlines with a team of 40+ to build a 550 lbf rocket to be launched at Spaceport America Cup.
Use CAD and CFD software to model and improve the rocket’s components, considering factors like heat-resistance, weight, and aerodynamics.
Assemble literature reviews of relevant rocket technology by other student teams and companies in the industry.
University of Los Andes, Dept. of Chemical Engineering - Bogota, Colombia May 2020 - September 2020
Research Assistant
Performed a CFD-based comparison of a Centrifugal Pump and a Regenerative Turbine Pump, modeling the pieces in SolidWorks and calculating hydraulic head, power, and efficiency in STAR-CCM+.
Redesigned an oil-water separator tank using STAR-CCM+, improving the tank’s separation efficiency by 20%.
Created 15+ models of pumps and related components applicable to the oil and gas industry using SolidWorks.
