Development of an All-Natural Tick Repellent
PI- Joshua Loomis, PhD
Developed protocols to test repellents against tick species, development of a natural lotion base for the repellent, collected tick species for testing, and met with Art and Design students for designing and branding of the lotion bottle. This research was presented at East Stroudsburg University Sigma Xi Student Research Symposium, April 2017 and TecBridge Innovation Conference, August 2017 Funding by: PPL Entrepreneurship Grant
Prevalence of Larval Trematodes in Freshwater Gastropods of Lentic Sites in Northeastern Pennsylvania PI- Jane Huffman, PhD
Development of protocols for research project to study parasitic infections in snails, collection and analysis of aquatic snails from lentic sites, literature review on the topic, analysis and interpretation of data
Funding by: Pennsylvania Academy of Science and ESU Summer Research Experience (S.U.R.E) Grant Characterizing the Microbial Composition of Unpasteurized Milk PI- Joshua Loomis, PhD
Collected unpasteurized milk samples from a local dairy farm and used differential and selective agars to characterize microbes present in the samples. Colonies of interest were further characterized by genetic analysis. This research was presented at East Stroudsburg University’s Sigma Xi student research symposium, April 2018.
