Geka Pharma, Windhoek, Namibia October 2016 – current Data Scientist / Cost Accountant
• Monitor and maintain cost prices and selling prices of 10 000 SKUs in one of the only Pharmaceutical Wholesalers in Namibia.
• Design diagnostic reports alerting managers of critical issues within their departments, e.g. reports to measure when stock levels reached critically low levels, or when a buyer was about to place an order for the wrong quantity.
• Advise top management about strategic decisions in terms of stock holding or movement.
• Lead a small agile team consisting of the IT Manager and pharmacists in an ERP system change.
• Run monthly reports for accounting department.
• Present findings from complex data and analyses to non-technical audiences. Key Achievement:
• Created value by automating existing reports into a BI tool, by collaborating with the IT Manager. Creating additional reports to track functions within the business, e.g. to detect when products that were out of stock were received; detect when a certain product within a warehouse runs out of stock; to keep track of critical/high value medicine to prevent stock-outs. • Constructed a Financial Literacy Indicator for the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation), to measure programmes implemented in Namibia to uplift the economic situation of the poor.
• Designed questionnaires to measure the effectiveness of international aid programmes in Namibia, e.g. USAID’s programmes in lowering maternal and infant mortality rates in Namibia.
• Provided stakeholders with strategic analysis and recommendations by means of client-facing presentations as well as detailed reports.
• Sampling design for research projects in the socioeconomic field and training of enumerators on sampling procedures
(Design included calculation of margin of error for reporting purposes).
