I am an eager newly graduated Family Nurse Practitioner looking to start my career as an NP in a Primary Care or Urgent Care Clinic. Although I don’t have experience as a licensed NP, I have been indirectly trained by physicians I work with on suturing of minor lacerations, draining abscesses, applying splints to injuries, and reading X-rays. I am currently working as a Triage and Treatment Area and Emergency Responder RN in the State Prison where I assess patients with possible Urgent or Emergent conditions and determine their disposition. Prior to starting the Nurse Practitioner program, I was a Care Manager RN where I worked with a physician to manage approximately 500 inmates with varying degrees of medical needs. Following the established Care Guides and in collaboration with my assigned team physician, I co-managed patients with chronic medical problems such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, asthma/COPD, liver problems, and seizures, among others.
