Bearing Capacity of Footing on Slope Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee, IIT Mandi Aug 2019 July 2020

• A finite element based numerical study has been carried out in the present study to investigate the bearing capacity of strip footings resting on the sloping ground.

• Assessment of bearing capacity of footing situated near the vicinity of the slope with emphasis on influence of back set ratio, slope inclination angle and inclination of applied load.

• Evaluation of stability of the slopes due to presence of such isolated footings on the slope crest and its influence on bearing capacity estimation of the footing.

Floor Mapping Catalyst, IIT Mandi Aug 2018

• There was a need of renovation of the building (4 floors) to which we provided floor mapping of the building. We carried out the floor survey using tape surveying method and gave CAD designs to the concerned authorities.

PROJECTS

• Bridge Design: Proposed design of a bridge structure over a nearby tributary of Uhl river. It involved modelling of members, selecting the materials, cross section and analysis of loading and deflection in Staad.pro software. Software Used: Staad.pro, AutoCAD

EXTRA CIRRUCULAR

• Nirman Club Core Member: Nirman Club is one of the leading technical clubs of IIT Mandi and it mainly involves activ ities related to civil engineering. As an active member of this club, I not only participated in events conducted by the club but also I organised varies event for the club.

• Cricket Secretary: As the head of Men’s cricket team of IIT Mandi, I directly managed over 30 students and regularly organised cricket matches and tournaments.

• Represented Institute in National Students’ Space Challenge 2018 at IIT Kharagpur.

• Represent institute in inter IIT sport tournament in Cricket (2017 2020) and won bronze medal in 2020.

• Represented institute in Thomso’17 (Technical fest of IIT Roorkee) and secured 3rd prize in IPL auction.
