Bastian Solutions, a subsidiary of Toyota Industries Corporation, Olive Branch, MS
Primary responsibilities include: design engineering, site supervision, project management, customer support, and sales consulting.
Role consisted of entrepreneurial-oriented duties such as demonstration of leadership and organizational skills, understanding of financials, budgets, and cash flow, and Supply Chain Automation.
Research and analysis of engineering drawings for inventory maintenance and bill of materials (BOM).
Developed and designed 3D CAD layouts to meet new customer requirements for material handling.
Verification and validation testing including protocols, execution, analysis and reports.
Find engineering solutions for projects and technology for the material handling, manufacturing, and distribution domains.
Performs initial triage of customer complaints pertaining to equipment failure in the field, and coordinate investigation and tests (failure mechanisms) in order to resolve customer issues.
Engineering Internship - Manufacturing, Summer, 2018
Helena Industries, LLC, Collierville, TN
Design and conduct performance evaluation activities for manufacturing plant efficiency using optimization software.
Developed and initiated standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
Provided analytical reporting for quality inspection methods, standardization on breakages, scheduled maintenance.
Initiated corrective action requests as needed from breakdowns and tracked to satisfactory completion.
Worked with management on providing optimal usage of reporting for plant management and cost reduction.
Purchase report analysis – match purchases orders to inventory.
Knowledge of ISO standardization. Applied Lean engineering principles such as Pareto charts and Ishikawa diagrams for root cause analysis.
PROJECTS
Senior Design Project: Designed an assistive oven rack to aid individuals with physical disabilities. Product involved a lifting/locking mechanism for ease of control. Utilized 3D CAD for assembly design and Finite Element Analysis. Collaborated with design team to implement design standards throughout project. Developed test scripts to simulate max loads, thermal expansion, lifting and pulling forces, and other types of component and system-wide testing. Used Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for design drawings.
Multibody Dynamics Project: Designed a shaper machine to specific parameters to obtain required output of 1.5 hz/90rpm oscillation for the motor. Additionally, a stroke length of 1.2ft and time ratio of 1.2 were required. Position and velocity analyses were conducted on the linkage system to confirm the stroke, time ratio, and quick-return function. Performed gear stress calculations and bearing selection calculations. Designed the assembly in 3D CAD.
Finite Element Analysis Project: Performed finite element analysis on the static and dynamic load of six internal rotating rings of an Armillary Support Ring Assembly. Utilized 3D CAD to provide an engineering analysis report of 1) Thicknesses of all components that comprise the Ring Support Box Assembly, and 2) Thickness of plate steel that comprises the outer stationary ring.
